Samson Company, operator of hair loss treatment platform Ususu, raised additional seed funding from Digital Healthcare Partners (DHP). This is in addition to earlier seed funding from Mashup Angels last month.
The company will participate in the DHP’s accelerator program as well.
Ususu is a hair loss treatment platform that allows users to compare opinions and quotations from specialists. Users who upload a photo of their hair (or lack thereof) receive feedback from minimum 8 specialists within 3 days on recommended treatment as well as quotations for either hair transplant, wig or scalp treatment. The app currently has 160 participating specialists.
Korea’s hair loss treatment market is growing rapidly and is worth US$3.4 billion. National Health Insurance Service (NHIS) reported that one million patients sought baldness treatments in medical clinics in the last 5 years, with 40% of them in their 20s and 30s. Total number of patients should be higher than those reported by NHIS, given it excludes non-medical treatments and those not covered by NHIS.
Ususu soft-launched an anti-hair loss shampoo bar and sold 2,000 bars in the last 6 months.
